Asseverations and Legalizations

When is an asseveration requested?

When you need to submit:

  • An italian document to a foreign Authority
  • A foreign document to an Italian Authority

A document can be legally certified by:

  • Notarially or in-Court Asseveration
  • Legalization
  • Apostille (as an alternative to legalisation when the country of destination is a signatory to the 1961 Hague Convention).

When to require an asseveration?

The asseveration certifies the conformity of a translation with the original text.

  • Private individuals can request it for Diplomas, and important Certificates to be produced.
  • Companies may require it for contracts, legal disputes, hiring letters, opinions and legal Acts. The legalization certifies the legal status of the public official who signed the deed and the authenticity of his signature.
