We often hear of literary Arabic and vulgar Arabic, but the distinction is somewhat imprecise. There are in fact Arabic dialects, which differ from region to region but share a common origin that is evident in the writing of literary Arabic. From the shores of the Atlantic to those of the Persian Gulf, literary Arabic is unique and still constitutes the most powerful glue that unifies the irrepressible Arab-Muslim nationalisms that still make the Koran, the sacred book of Muslims written in Arabic, the magnetic centre of convergence of inter-Islamic action.

Arabic was originally one of the many Semitic dialects of the Arabian Peninsula and along with Hebrew (עברית, ivrit) and Amharic (አማርኛ āmariññā) – the official language of Ethiopia – was counted among the languages of the great civilizations of humanity: Assyrian-Babylonian, Phoenician, Islamic.

Our Arabic courses, in-house or distance, prepare you to reach all levels of language knowledge with highly qualified mother tongue or bilingual teachers.
